April 2, 2006
STARKVILLE, Miss. - For the second time in three meets in the outdoor season, J.D. Erickson surpassed NCAA Regional qualifying marks in each of his three events, as he led the U of M at the Bulldog Invitational, at Mississippi State University.
Erickson won the shot put with a personal-best equaling mark of 58-03.25" (17.76m) to improve upon his regional mark in the event. The senior added a victory in the hammer with a mark of 186-03.00" (56.77m), while finishing second in the discus with a toss of 174-07.00" (53.22m). Each of the latter two marks surpassed the Regional standards, but was just off Erickson's top effort from earlier in the season.
King won the shot put with an outdoor-best and regional qualifying mark of 48-05.50" (14.77m) to qualify for Regionals in a second event after qualifying in the discus at the Rhodes Open. In addition, the junior finished third in the discus with a throw of 149-09.00" (45.65m) and fourth in the hammer with a personal-best mark of 171-03.00" (52.21m).
Bolton won the pole vault with a mark of 11-05.75" (3.50m), breaking her own school record, and improving her previous best mark in the event by nearly a foot.
Lee added another win and a school record, taking the hammer with a mark of 175-00.00" (53.33m), while breaking her own school record in the event.
Tyler Frazier and Emily Malinowski registered the final two event titles for the U of M, with Frazier winning the javelin with a season-best effort of 187-05.00" (57.12m) and Malinowski claiming the 3000m with a time of 10:08.30.

In other top-seven showings for the men, Greg Norrid finished second in the javelin with a throw of 150-04.00" (45.83m). Brian Prackett finished third in the pole vault with a clearance of 13-06.00" (4.11m). Brandon Winbush finished third in the long jump with a leap of 22-05.00" (6.09m).
