Fayetteville, Ark. - With the Conference USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships coming in one month, eight Tigers represented the University of Memphis track and field program at the John McDonnell Invitational on Saturday in Fayetteville, Ark.

Junior sprinter LaShundra Kershaw continued her top-five performance streak with a second place finish in the women's 100m dash. Kershaw qualified second with a time of 11.65 seconds and captured the second place finish with a personal-best time of 11.61 seconds.

Kershaw returned for the women's 200m dash competition and wasted no time putting up another top performance. The Lambert, Miss. native posted a first place finish in the competition with a personal-best time of 23.77 seconds.

Junior Richard Lowe posted his best finish of the season in the 400m hurdles with a second place finish and a season-best time of 52.06 seconds. Sophomore Alex Sweet finished fourth with a time of 53.83 seconds while junior Nick Harold finished fifth, crossing the finish line in 54.22 seconds.

Lady Tiger junior Holland Thomas captured a third place finish in the 100m hurdles competition. Thomas crossed the finish line in 14.02 seconds for the third place finish. Thomas qualified third with a personal-best time of 13.96 seconds. The Prinecton, N.J. native finished seventh in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:04.53.


 

 

In the men's 110m hurdles, sophomore Robert Jackson qualified fourth with a season-best time of 14.21 seconds. Jackson wound up finishing fifth in the finals, crossing the finish line in 14.25 seconds.

Freshman Abdi Guleed posted his third top-10 performance in as many meets with a fifth place finish in the 800m run. Guleed crossed the finish line in 1:51.23 to collect the top-five performance. Junior Guy Hudson finished 10th with a time of 1:54.86.

Sophomore distance runner Kayleigh Brown trimmed nearly 20 seconds off of her season best time to collect a ninth place finish in the 1,500m run. Brown posted a new personal-best time of 4:31.99, roughly five seconds shy of the school record (4:27.26-Tina Sheratt).

In the men's 1,500m run, freshman Brieuc Vandeleene improved his personal-best by six seconds to set his personal-best at 3:52.41 and collected a 15th place finish.

The Tigers will return to the track next weekend as they host the second annual Memphis Tiger Invitational on Fri., Apr. 16 and Sat., Apr. 17 at the Billy J. Murphy Track and Field Complex.
