War Eagle Invitational Results

AUBURN, Ala.-The University of Memphis men's track and field squad returned to action at the War Eagle Invitational hosted by Auburn, on Friday and Saturday. The Tigers posted three wins in their return to competition following a week off.

Luis Hanssler placed first in the long jump with a mark of 7.55m (24'9.25"). Teammate Michael McManus took sixth in the event at 7.16m (23'6").

In the pole vault, Pauls Pujats took first clearing a height of 5.20m (17'.75"). Austin Crenshaw took fourth at a height of 5.05m (16'6.75").

Moving to the high jump, Georgio Lynwood placed fourth clearing 2.02m (6'7.5"). In the triple jump, Jaleen White placed third with at mark of 14.86m (48'9").

In throwing events, the Tigers scored two top-five finishes in the shot put. Yannik Schaly took third with a throw of 17.86m (58'7.25"), with Luke Vaughn placing fifth at 16.29m (53'5.5"). Vaughn placed third in the discus landing at 49.57m (162'11").

Thomas Poole and Marc Klaschka each notched top-five finishes in the javelin. Poole took second at 61.15m (200'7"), with Klaschka taking fourth at 56.70m (186'). In the hammer throw, Matt Sipe placed seventh with a throw of 56.28m (184'8").

In running events, Memphis took the win in the 4 x 400m relay. The team of La'Quintin Garner, Hanssler, Fabian Fiege and LaForrest Church took the top-spot in a time of 3:12.51.

Fiege (1:51.89), Church (1:52.69), Garner (1:55.38) and Julien Wolf (1:55.67) all notched top-10 finishes in the 800m taking second, third, eighth and tenth respectively. The Tigers added two more top-10 finishes in the 1,500m with James Maglasang taking third at 4:00.58 and Austin Carter placing sixth at 4:03.87.

In the 5,000m, Dan Kuhman and Stephen Tankersley took top-10 finishes. Kuhman placed sixth in a time of 15:00.89, with Tankersley placing tenth at 15:45.18.

Brandon Williams took fourth in the 400m hurdles clocking a time of 53.05. In the 400m dash, Chris Walker placed 24th in a time of 50.53.
