NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Memphis men's track team finished in second-place in the team standings Saturday at the Vanderbilt Invitational and managed to pick up two crucial NCAA Regional qualifying times. The women's team also performed well, finishing sixth out of 24 teams.

"We didn't come here looking for a great team score," Memphis head coach Kevin Robinson said. "We were trying to get some people qualified for the NCAAs, and we did that. I think we had really good meet this weekend."

Larry Harris and Stephon Greenlee both qualified for the NCAA Regionals in the 400-meter hurdles Saturday. Harris finished in second-place with a time of 51.42 while Greenlee clocked in at 52.13. Amaechi Oselukwue was just tenths of a second from qualifying in the 110-meter hurdles, finishing in 14.37.

Senior Willie Green took fifth-place in the men's 100-meter dash with a 10.65, but failed to reach his needed regional time.

The men's throws group was also impressive Saturday. Glen Edwards was second in the shot put. Steffen Nerdal won both the hammer and discus events, and teammate Norbert Gulyas finished second in the discus with a throw of 166-07.

On the women's side, Gail Lee finished second in the shot put with a mark of 53-03.75 and took second-place in the hammer with a throw of 179-03.

After posting scores in the 1500 meters Friday, Tina Sherratt and Anneli Uys both scored in the women's 800 Saturday.
