JONESBORO, Ark.-With the inaugural American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championship one week away, the Tigers got a final tune-up at the A-State Red Wolves Open on Friday and Saturday.

On Saturday, Joe Craig returned to the track and field fold competing in the 100m and 200m. Craig took 12th in the 100m at 10.78 and 13th in the 200m with a time of 21.86. Chris Walker placed 11th in the 400m clocking in at 49.56.

The meet ran two divisions in the 800m with invite and open events. In the 800m invite, LaQuintin Garner took second in a time of 1:52.06. In the 800m open, Julien Wolf (1:55.22), Alex Klatt (1:57.01) and Godfrey Fayne placed first, third and fourth respectively.

Aaron Persinger and Tuure Hollo notched top-10 finishes in the 110m hurdles with Persinger taking fifth at 14.79 and Hollo seventh at 15.03. In the 400m hurdles, Brandon Williams took fourth in a time of 52.68 with Persinger taking fifth at 52.96.

Moving to field events, Gerogio Lynwood took fourth in the high jump with a season-best 2.11m (6’11”). In the pole vault, Austin Crenshaw took first with a vault of 5.07m (16’7.5”) while Hollo tied for fourth at a height of 4.82m (15’9.75”).

Jaleen White and Luis Hanssler notched top-10 finishes in the long jump. White took fifth at 7.26m (13’10”) with Hanssler placing 10th at 7.14m (23’5.25”). White also took sixth in the triple jump at a distance of 14.80m (48’6.75”).

In the shot put four Tigers placed in the top-10 with Yannik Scahly being the top-finsher in second with a new personal best of 18.50m (60’8.50”). Luke Vaughn (16.56m, 54’4”), Tom Willcox (16.21m, 53’2.25”) and Wade Wells (16.03m, 52’7.25”) placed fifth, seventh and ninth respectively. Schaly also took 12th in the discus at 48.74m (159’11”).

In events competed on Friday, Brandon Keys placed ninth in the 3,000m steeplechase in a time of 10:03.76. In the hammer throw, Matt Sipe was Memphis’ top-finisher placing 10th with a mark of 54.89m.

The Tigers also scored two top-five finishes in the javelin. Thomas Poole took second with a throw of 64.38m with teammate Tim Jones taking fifth at 56.94m.
