Jackson Advances to NCAA Quarterfinals

JACKSONVILLE, FLA.- Senior Robert Jackson qualified for the men's 110m hurdles quarterfinals at the NCAA East Preliminary hosted by the University of North Florida on Friday. Jackson finished third in his first round heat with a time of 13.85.
Freshman Tyrell Forde set a new personal-record in his first NCAA Preliminary in the 110m at 14.10. However, Forde's time was just shy of the qualifying cut-off time.
Brandon Williams was unable to advance in the men's 400m hurdles finishing sixth in his heat at 51.74. In the men's 800m quarterfinal, freshman Fabian Fiege took seventh in his heat. Fiege's time of 1:49.92 just missed qualifying for the semifinals.
In field events, sophomore Will Hubber did not advance in the men's hammer throw. Hubber's best throw of the day landed at 51.89m (170'3"). Fellow sophomore Laura Toldy's bid to move on in the women's high jump also fell short as she was unable to place in the top 12 of the quarterfinals at a height of 1.67m (5'5.75").
The Tigers resume action at the NCAA East Preliminary on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. (CT) with Karlis Pujats and Austin Crenshaw set to compete in the men's pole vault semifinals. In other events, Darius Lynwood will compete in the men's high jump semifinals at 4 p.m. (CT), followed by Robert Jackson in the men's 110m hurdles quarterfinals at 6:05 p.m. (CT).
Competition will end at the NCAA East Preliminary with Kala Funderburk, Maya Williamson, Monica Mason and Keyona Neal running in the women's 4 x 400m quarterfinals at 8:45 p.m. (CT). Final results will be posted on GoTigersGo.com as they are available.
