GREENSBORO, N.C.- After three days of competition at the NCAA East Preliminary a total of seven athletes will now represent the University of Memphis at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The third and final day of competition saw three more Tigers punch their tickets to Eugene, Ore.

The women's 4 x 400 relay team of Kala Funderburk, Monica Mason, Keyona Neal and Maya Williamson shattered their own program-record with automatic qualifying time of 3:33.65 taking first in their heat and second overall. The group surpassed their previous record of 3:35.36 set in their gold medal performance at the Conference USA Outdoor Championship.

Manuel Ziegler also secured his spot at the NCAA Outdoor Championship in the men's triple jump. Ziegler took seventh overall with a leap of 15.45m (50'8.25").

In other action from Saturday, Georgio Lynwood took 13th in the men's high jump with a leap of 2.14m (7'.25"). Lynwood barely missed moving on to Eugene as six other competitors also finished at the 2.14m mark. However, due to tie breaker rules he placed just outside of the top-12 qualifying cut-off.

Vivian Brandhoff placed 30th in the women's shot put with a throw of 14.68m (48'2") while fellow thrower Britta Jaarats took 43rd at 13.65m (44'6"). In the men's hammer throw, Andrew Miller struggled fouling on three attempts.

The Tigers left the NCAA Preliminary with a total of seven athletes now qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships. On Thursday, Luis Hanssler punched his ticket to Eugene in the men's long jump finishing in the top-12 of the NCAA East Preliminary. Hanssler locked up a spot in the national finals by placing 11th with a leap of 7.36m (24'1.75").

On Friday Funderburk and Williamson qualified in the women's 400m and women's 400m hurdles respectively. Funderburk set a new program-record of 52.59 in her qualifying run in the 400m. Williamson set a new program-record of 58.07 in the women's 400m hurdles securing her place in Eugene.

Multi-event athlete Xenia Rahn qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the women's heptathlon prior to the NCAA East Preliminary. Rahn qualified with her silver medal performance of 5,463 points at the C-USA Outdoor Championship.
