Hanssler Completes Decathlon at the NCAA Outdoor Championships

EUGENE, Ore.-University of Memphis multi-event athlete Luis Hanssler placed 18th in the decathlon at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, on Thursday.
The sophomore posted a final score of 7,120 points in the 10-event competition. In the final five events competed Thursday, Hanssler placed seventh in the 110m hurdles (14.98, 852 points), 20th in the discus (34.91m, 114'6", 562 points), 19th in the pole vault (4.20m, 13'9.25", 673 points), 21st in the javelin (48.18m, 158'1", 562 points) and 11th in the 1,500m (4:45.97, 643 points).
On Wednesday, Hanssler placed ninth in the 100m (10.94, 874 points), 11th in the long jump (7.23m, 23'8.75", 869 points), 17th in the shot put (12.09m, 39'8", 612 points), 19th in the high jump (1.84m, 6'.5", 661points) and 10th in the 400m (50.05, 812 points).
Two more Tigers are set to compete on Friday at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Sophomore Carolina Carmichael will compete in the women's pole vault at 5:15 p.m. (CT), with freshman Luke Vaughn hitting the throwing cage for the men's discus at 6:00 p.m. (CT).
