Bynum Takes Top-10 Finish at USA Jr. Outdoor Championships

BLOOMINGTON, IND.-Action began at the USA Jr. Championships on Friday in Bloomington, Ind. Freshmen Kyle Bynum and Maya Williamson stepped onto the national stage in day one representing the Tigers. Bynum took ninth overall in the men's javelin with a throw of 61.50m. The Pearl, Miss., native's top-ten finish caped off a freshman campaign in which the Tiger thrower won his first C-USA Outdoor Championship, and competed in his first NCAA East Preliminary. Williamson won her first-round heat in the women's 400m hurdle with a time of 59.62, the second fastest mark of the preliminary round. Williamson will run in the finals set for Saturday at 5 p.m. (CT). Fellow hurdler Bronte' Smith will also take to the track Saturday running in the women's 100m hurdle. Smith begins first round action at 3:45 p.m. (CT). Results from the USA Jr. Outdoor Championships will be posted on GoTigersGo.com as they become available.
