Lowe Runs at USA Olympic Trials
June 28, 2012
EUGENE, ORE.- Former University of Memphis hurdler Richard Lowe attempted to qualify for the USA Olympic Team in the men's 400m hurdle, Thursday, at the USA Olympic Trails. Despite a valiant effort Lowe's bid fell short as the hurdler finished 22nd overall in the first round of qualifying with a time of 51.88. "Richard had a phenomenal career here and was a great representative of our program," head track and field coach Kevin Robinson said. "Richard will always be a Tiger, and I am very proud of all he has accomplished. Once a Tiger, always a Tiger." The former Conference USA Outdoor Male Athlete of the Year and First-Team All-American is among a growing list of elite-level athletes that have made qualifying bids for the 2012 London Olympic Games, who at one time competed for the University of Memphis.
