Memphis Cross Country Teams Run at Memphis Twilight Meet
Sept. 14, 2008
Memphis, Tenn. – The Memphis men’s and women’s cross country team competed in the Brooks Memphis Twilight Meet tonight. In the women’s race that took place first, the Lady Tigers took 20th place. In the men’s 8k race that followed, the Memphis men took 14th place.
Memphis distance coach Toby Reep was not overly impressed by his team’s finish in the meet, but looks to improve in the coming weeks.
“We still have a lot of work to do because it’s early in the season,” Reep said. “Things just didn’t go the way we wanted them to go tonight. We’re just going to really go back to work this week. I know we’re really fatigued from the work outs we have been putting them through and this meet will serve as a work out for us. In the long run, this will just help us to progress in the direction that we want to go.”
Both cross country teams will be in action next weekend on Saturday, Sept. 20 at the Commodore Classic hosted by Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tenn.
