LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The University of Memphis men's and women's cross country teams competed at the UALR Open, Saturday, Sept. 22. The men's team finished in 2nd place, while the women's team finished in 3rd.

On the women's side junior Emily Malinowski crossed the line first for the Lady Tigers finishing in 4th place with a time of 18:21.24 and sophomore Anneli Uys, finished second for the Lady Tigers in 8th place.

Freshman Tina Sherratt logged a time of 19:28.44, good enough for 9th place. Freshman Lyndsey Rastasiewicz ran a time of 20.50.39, while freshman Jessie Wilks recorded a time of 22:03.46.

The men's cross country team had a 2nd place showing, with sophomore Jorgen Ekdahl leading the pack with a 5th place time of 26:24.05. Senior Sam James, freshman Jacob Chapman and freshman Wesley Garrett had a 1-2-3 finish with times of 27:37.79, 27:44.68 and 27:45.24, for 13th, 14th, and 15th place finishes.

Freshman Guy Hudson rounded out the top five for the Tigers with a 28:11.75.

Both the men's and women's cross country teams will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 29, at the Rhodes College Open in Memphis, Tenn.
