Ziegler Named C-USA Male Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week

MEMPHIS, Tenn.-University of Memphis sophomore jumper Manuel Ziegler was named Conference USA Indoor Track and Field Male Athlete of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday. Zeigler scored a triple jump first place finish at last Saturday's Kentucky Invitational.
Ziegler notched the triple jump win with a leap of 15.48m (50'9.5"). The sophomore's mark currently ranks No. 4 in NCAA Division I indoor competition.
The win marked the second-straight meet in which Ziegler scored a first place finish in the triple jump. In the first meet of the season, Ziegler took the top podium spot with a mark of 15.00m (49'2.5") at the BSC Icebreaker in Birmingham, Ala.
The Neustadt, Germany native is in his first season with the Tigers. Prior to Memphis, Ziegler competed in track and field at Gymnasium Neustadt focusing on the long jump and triple jump. This is Ziegler's first C-USA Athlete of the Week honor.
