Memphis, Tenn. - The University of Memphis men's and women's track teams will head to Carbondale, Ill., Friday and Saturday, January 21-22, for the Saluki Booster Invitational, hosted by Southern Illinois University.

After being out of competition since the first weekend in December, the Tigers and Lady Tigers will look at this weekend's meet as a way to judge progress and work themselves back into meet shape.

In the first meet of the indoor season, the ASU Kickoff Klassic, the squads put together a solid performance, with jumper Janon Busby and thrower J.D. Erickson each winning an event and placing second in another, and several other athletes putting together strong showings.

The athletes and coaches hope to build upon that success in the Booster Invitational, which will feature several top programs from around the central portion of the country.

Competition at the Saluki Booster Invitational will begin Friday at 4:00 p.m., with the men's and women's weight throw and triple jump and the men's pole vault taking place Friday evening. All other events are scheduled for Saturday, with the action set to begin at 8:30 and continue throughout the day.

All events are scheduled to be held at the Student Recreation Center on the campus of Southern Illinois University.
