Jonesboro, Ark.-- - The University of Memphis men's track and field team won four events at the Arkansas State University Invitational, Sunday. The Tigers finished third with 107 points, behind host Arkansas State and Southern Miss which tied with 112 points.

Junior Larry Crawford (Memphis, TN/Craigmont) improved his C-USA best time in the 55-meter dash with a 6.34 clocking in the finals, and posted his second-fastest time in the 200 with a win in 22.07. Fellow Tiger Frank Diahiou finished third in the 55m in 6.45 and seventh in the 200 in 22.91.

Tiger sophomore Delvit Rogers (Memphis, TN/Raleigh Egypt) repeated his triple jump win at ASU, again hitting an NCAA provisional qualifying distance of 15.60 meters (51-2.25), the minimum needed to provisionally qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville on Mar. 10-11. Rogers also finished second in the long jump with a leap of 7.25 meters (23-9.25), exactly one foot short of a provisional qualifying distance for that event. Sophomore teammate Courtland Perry (Millington,TN/Bolton) finished second with a 14.62 meter jump.

Another Memphis native winning his event was sophomore Chris Ingram (Memphis, TN/East). Ingram won the 400 in 49.50, the third fastest time in C-USA this season. Freshman Andre Lucas (Toronto, Canada) finished third in 50.32 while Landon Norris (Memphis, TN/Craigmont) finished 11th in 54.40.

The Tigers' distance runners grabbed top four finishes in all three distance events they ran. Senior Kevin Foltz (Flushing, MI/Flushing) finished third in the 800 meter run in 1:57.17, the third fastest time in the conference and finished second in the 1600 meter run in 4:17.58. Junior Christian Schmallegger finished fourth in the 1600 in 4:29.77. Sophomore Balazs Laszlo finished fourth in the 3000m run in 9:16.91.

Senior decathlete Kevin O'Connell (Collierville, TN/Collierville) continues to work on events to prepare for the outdoor decathlon. He finished sixth in the long jump with a jump of 6.57 m (21-6.5) and 11th in the shot put with a put of 12.36m (40-6.75). Sophomore Justin Garrison (Memphis, TN/Kirby) finished eighth in the shot with a 13.53m distance.

The Tigers next indoor meet is February 5 at Kentucky.
