LEXINGTON, Ken. – Night one of the Rod McCravy Memorial Classic, hosted by the University of Kentucky, saw two Tigers earn points for the U of M in six competed events (three men's, three women's).

Senior Knut Syversen, in a field featuring three of the top 50 weight throwers in the nation, was runner-up with a 19.19m (62’ 11.50”) throw, finishing less than four feet behind Southern Illinois’ J.C. Lambert, who’s currently ranked fifth in the nation in the weight throw.

Freshman Darius Lynwood, who had finished runner-up in his first two collegiate meets in the high jump, acquitted himself nicely against competition that included four of the nation’s top 20 high jumpers, finishing seventh with a 1.99m (6’ 6.25”) jump.

In women’s weight throw action, a trio of freshmen (Cyarra Wells, Britta Jaarats and Allison Hotz) set personal-bests in the weight throw, with Wells setting a Lady Tiger season-best 16.67m (54’ 8.25”) toss on her first throw en route to a 19th-place finish.

The meet’s second day will commence tomorrow, at 10:15 a.m., with the ending of the field events, followed by the track events, which are scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m.
