Memphis Runners Prepare for Notre Dame
Jan. 31, 2013 Memphis Track and Field Notebook Jan. 31 C-USA Indoor Track and Field Notebook Meyo Invitational Live Results SOUTH BEND, Ind.-University of Memphis track athletes will be in action, this weekend, at the Meyo Invitational hosted by Notre Dame University. The team will take a different approach to this week’s meet, focusing on running events. “For 90-percent of the team this is a recovery week, where we are just going to train and get healthy,” head track and field coach Kevin Robinson said. “We’re planning on taking our men and women’s 4x400m relay and distance medley teams to Notre Dame and make an all-out assault on our existing school records.” Along with the relay events, a contingent of Memphis runners will take to the track in the track in the 400m, 800m, mile run, and 3,000m. The Tigers begin action on Friday with the women’s and men’s distance medley, with the women set to run at 7:10 p.m. (CT) followed by the men at 7:25 p.m. (CT). Saturday’s action will begin at 10:25 a.m. (CT) with the running of the men’s 3,000m. Results from both days of competition will be posted on GoTigersGo.com as they are made available. Tigers Leading C-USA Event Categories On the men’s side, Godfrey Fayne holds down the No. 1 spot in the 800m with his personal-best of 1:54.35. The distance medley relay team of Fayne, Fabian Fiege, Keanan Joyner and James Maglasang hold down the top spot in C-USA with their season-best time of 10:09.64. In the triple jump, Manuel Ziegler leads with his personal-best leap of 15.74m (51’7.75”). Luis Hanssler leads C-USA in the heptathlon with his program-record mark of 5,291 points. Tigers in the USTFCCCA South Regional Rankings In the USTFCCCA South Region Event Rankings, Xenia Rahn ranks fourth in the high jump with here season-best mark of 1.81m (5’11.25”). Rahn also ranks first in the pentathlon with a mark of 4,191 points set at the McCravy Invitational. Clara Amat Fernandez and Sabrina Hochreuther are both tied for fifth in the pole vault at a height of 3.90m (12’9.5”). Two Tigers make an appearance in the women’s weight throw rankings. Cyarra Wells (18.70m, 61’4.25”) and Britta Jaarats (18.45m, 60’6.5”) rank fourth and sixth respectively. On the men’s side of the USTFCCCA South Region Event Rankings, Georgio Lynwood checks in at No. 2 in the high jump with his season-best of 2.14m (7’0.25”). In the pole vault Austin Crenshaw (5.25, 17’2.75”) and Pauls Pujats (5.10m, 16’8.75”) rank third and fifth. Triple-jumper Manuel Ziegler holds down the No. 3 spot with his best of 15.74m (51’7.75”). Two Memphis throwers make an appearance in this week’s rankings. Yannik Schally ranks eighth in the shot put with his season-best of 18.59m (57’2.25”), while Andrew Miller ranks sixth in the weight throw at a distance of 18.59m (61’). In the heptathlon Luis Hanssler ranks fourth with his season-best of 5,591 points, while fellow multi-eventer Marc Klaschka ranks fifth with his season-best of 5,204 points. Last Time Out Luis Hanssler set a new program-record and took first place with a score of 5, 291 points. Hanssler finished first in four of the seven events (60m dash, long jump, 60m hurdles and the 1000m run) in his program-best performance. In the women’s pole vault Clara Amat Fernandez and Sabrina Hochreuther finished third and fourth respectively clearing a new program-record of 3.90m (12’9.5”). Amat Fernandez and Hochreuther each bested Amat-Fernandez’s record of 3.85m (12’7.5”) set a week earlier at the John Craft Invitational. Up Next for the Tigers
