Tigers Win Four Events at Kentucky Track Meet
Feb. 5, 2000 Lexington, Kent.-- - The University of Memphis men's track team won four events at the Rob McCravy Invitational Friday and Saturday. Senior Jason Garrison (Memphis/Kirby) won the men's weight throw with a toss of 59', 7.25 inches better than the second-place finisher. Garrison also finished second in the shot put with a put of 52-3.75. Also accounting for double medals was sophomore Delvit Rogers (Memphis/Raleigh Egypt). Rogers won both the long jump and triple jump, jumping 49-6.5 in the triple jump and 24-3.75, a season-best, in the long jump. Rogers has already provisionally qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships in the triple jump. Senior Kevin Foltz (Flushing, MI/Flushing) was another Tiger who found gold, winning the mile run in 4:16.27. Junior Larry Crawford (Memphis/Craigmont) recorded a pair of second-place finishes in the 60 and 200-meter dashes. Crawford posted a time of 6.79 in his first 60-meter competition this season, 0.03 seconds behind the winner, Mike Newell of Wallace State. Crawford dropped his 200-meter time to 21.51, 0.21 seconds better than his Conference-USA best time in the event. The Tigers will compete in the Saluki Invitational at Southern Illinois-Carbondale, Feb. 11-12.
