Ames, Iowa-- - Junior Delvit Rogers (Memphis, TN/Raleigh Egypt), who is already going to the NCAA Indoor Championships in the triple jump, provisionally qualified for the NCAAs in the long jump with a jump of 7.62 meters (25-00) at the Iowa State Classic, Friday. Rogers finished fifth of 25 competitors at the meet.

Mesut Yavis from Arkansas State won the long jump with a mark of 7.86 meters.

Another Memphis native also fared well at the Iowa State meet. Senior Larry Crawford (Memphis, Tenn./Craigmont) tied for 18th out of 63 competitors in the 200-meter dash. Crawford crossed the line in a season-best time of 21.90 seconds. Georgia's Brandon Hill and South Alabama's Rico Tilley tied for first in the event with a time of 21.38 seconds. The NCAA provisionally-qualifying standard in the 200 is 21.25 seconds.

The Tiger team continues competition at Iowa State, Saturday, when Crawford will compete in teh 60-meter dash and Rogers will participate in the triple jump. Seniors Stefan Matschiner and Chris Ingram and juniors Andre Lucas and Kris Harmon will also compete for the Tigers, Saturday.

The entire Memphis squad will finish its indoor regular season at Southern Illinois-Carbondale next weekend before heading to the Conference USA Indoor Championships at Houston, Feb. 23-24.
