Memphis, Tenn. – For the third time this season, senior thrower Steffen Nerdal has been named Conference USA Indoor Male Athlete of the Week as announced by the league office Tuesday.

The Bergen, Norway picked up the weight for the first time in nearly a month and posted his fourth first place finish in as many competitions. Nerdal recorded a throw of 22.56m (74-00.25) to finish first in the Redhawk Invite.

The two-time All-American currently ranks second among NCAA weight throwers with his school record and personal-best toss of 22.81m (74-10.00) earlier this season.

Nerdal picks up the honor for the third time this season and picks up his fifth indoor accolade of his stellar career. He is the first Tiger athlete to be named C-USA Athlete of the Week three times during one season.

The Tigers travel to Houston, Texas for the C-USA Indoor Championships which begin on Friday. Nerdal is seeking his second-straight weight throw championship when the competition begins Friday.

Nerdal and the Tigers head to Houston, Texas on Wednesday for the C-USA Indoor Championships which begin on Friday.
