The Memphis Track & Field teams will travel to Houston to compete in the C-USA Indoor Championships. The meet will take place Feb. 28-March 1, at the Yeoman Field House inside the Athletics/Alumni Center.

The two-day meet, featuring all 13 C-USA schools, begins at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 28, with the pentathlon and other combined events until 1:00 p.m. when the 20-pound weight throw starts the field events. Running events begin at 5:00 p.m. with the final heats of the 5000-meter runs for both women and men.

Competition concludes on Saturday, March 1, beginning with the heptathlon at 9:00 a.m. Field events get underway at 11:00 a.m. with the shot put, while the mile run for both women and men start the running events at 1:00 a.m.

Memphis enters the 2003 C-USA Indoor Track & Field Championships with hopes of a good showing on both the Men's and Women's sides. Last year, Memphis finished seventh in men's team scoring and 12th in Women's team scoring.

MEN:The Men's track team has been revamped by the additions of several transfers and talented freshmen athletes. Runners Mate Nemeth (3000m), Adam Didyk (3000m/5000m) and Hugh Ferry (Mile Run) are all contenders to place in distance events. Nemeth and Didyk are among favorites to win their events in Houston with good performances. Thrower Adam Martin and a plethora of sprinters hope for good showings as well.

WOMEN: Coach Calhoun-Cash's Lady Tigers are developing as a team. With seven freshmen, and five sophomores actively competing, Memphis looks to gain valuable experience at the C-USA Meet. Despite their youth, the Lady Tigers do possess championship contenders. Junior Lisa-Marie Hyman, the defending C-USA outdoor champion in the triple jump looks to win her first indoor triple jump crown. Junior Monique Nelson should contend for a shotput title and senior distance runner Wendy Ragle holds the Memphis school record in the 3000m, 5000m and Mile Run.
