Chicago, Ill.-- - Senior Jason Garrison (Memphis/Kirby) won the men's weight throw at the C-USA Indoor Championships, Saturday. Garrison won the event with a distance of 18.68 meters (61-3.50). That mark was the best in C-USA this season.

The Tiger track team was in third place following the first day of competition, eight points behind Houston and UNC Charlotte who were tied at 40 points. Southern Miss was in fourth place with 27 points.

Also scoring for the Tigers in their first day of action was sophomore Delvit Rogers (Memphis/Raleigh Egypt). The defending conference champion finished second in the long jump with a 7.49 (24-7) meter effort, three inches shorter than UNC Charlotte's Rephel Martin, who won the event. The two will again battle for the triple jump crown in Sunday's competition.

Sophomore Fotis Fotiou also medaled for the Tigers, finishing fourth in the high jump when he cleared 6-9.75, tying his season best height.
