MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Sophomore standout Steffen Nerdal earned Conference USA Outdoor Track and Field Male Athlete of the Week for his record breaking performances at the SEmotion Relays this past weekend.

Nerdal participated in both the discus and the hammer at the track meet. He set a new meet record and school record in the hammer; winning the event with a distance of 67.43 meters (221-03), which is an NCAA regional qualifying mark. He broke a 12-year old record to lead the field. Nerdal won the discus with an NCAA regional qualifying mark of 51.77 meters (169-10).

This is Nerdal's first C-USA honor of the outdoor season.
