MEMPHIS - The Memphis track team will travel to Knoxville, Tenn. this weekend for one its biggest meets of the 2007 outdoor season as it competes in the Sea Ray Relays hosted by the University of Tennessee.

The 41st edition of the Sea Rays officially started Wednesday with the beginning of the heptathlon and decathlon events. The Tigers, who will join the competition Friday, have done well at the meet over the past few seasons and are looking for continued success this year.

"This is a huge meet for us in the sense that we're going to go head-to-head with the nation's best teams," Memphis head coach Kevin Robinson said. "Some of our kids can compete well on that level, and we're only going to take the ones who can."

As many as a half dozen Tigers and Lady Tigers will be seeking NCAA Regional qualifying marks this weekend. Several of the men's hurdlers as well as women's distance runners are poised for breakout performances.

Following the Sea Rays, Memphis will have just two meets remaining before the Conference USA Championships on May 10-12.
