MEMPHIS, Tenn.- Memphis track and field squads split-up this weekend for two separate meets in two different states. A small group of Tiger sprinters and hurdles travel to Knoxville for the Sea Ray Relays hosted by the University of Tennessee, while the rest of the squad travels to the Magnolia Sate for the Mississippi Open hosted by Ole Miss.

"I think we are getting to the point in the season where we're starting to put up some good performances," said head coach Kevin Robinson. "Last week we performed pretty well, and I'm hoping this week we can spring board off of that and have a good experience this weekend."

Collegiate competition track events at the Sea Ray Relays begin on Friday. Among the Tigers competing in Knoxville are Robert Jackson and Tyrell Forde in the men's 110m hurdles, Kala Funderburk in the women's 400m dash and Keyona Neal in the women's 400m hurdles.

Saturday the Tigers will take part in the 2012 Sea Ray Showcase events. Maya Williamson and Brandon Williams will compete in the 400m hurdles. Later in the day Williamson, Neal, Funderburk and teammate Monica Mason will compete in the women's 4 x 400m relay.

The Mississippi Open begins Saturday at 9 a.m. (CT) with Memphis set to compete in a full slate of track and field events. The trip to Oxford is the second time three weeks the Tigers have paid a visit to Ole Miss for competition.

This weekend marks the first time this outdoor season the Tiger women will compete in the heptathlon. Sophomore Laura Toldy and freshman Xenia Rahn are slated to compete in the seven event competition. Toldy last competed in a multi-event competition at the 2012 Conference USA Indoor Championships, where she took fourth in the pentathlon.

Results from both meets will be posted on GoTigersGo.com as they are made available.

Where the Tigers Stand
The Tiger men moved up to number 13 in week two of the USTFCCA'S South Region Team Rankings. In the USTFCCA's South Region Event Rakings, pole vaulter Karlis Pujats and high jumper Darius Lynwood hold positions in the top ten. Pujats outdoor-best vault of 5.26m ranks third, while Lynwood's leap of 2.15m checks in at fourth.

Pujats' and Lynwood's performances rank in the top 15 on the NCAA East Qualifier List, with both athletes ranked at number 11. The pair of Tigers each hold the top spot Conference USA in their respective events.

Several other Tigers hold top 10 spots in the latest C-USA rankings. Sophomore Kala Funderburk ranks sixth in the women's 400m dash with her season best of 54.95.

Funderburk, Monica Mason, Keyona Neal and Maya Williamson sit a second in the women's 4 x 400m relay with their school-record setting performance of 3:41.84. Williamson (1:02.03) and Neal (1:02.06) check in at sixth and seventh in the women's 400m hurdles.

Three Tiger men hold top 10 positions in hurdle events. Senior Robert Jackson takes the second spot with his season best time of 14.26, while freshman Tyrell Forde takes sixth with a mark of 14.66. Fellow hurdler Brandon Williams (52.74) ranks third in the 400m hurldes.

Louisa Lingley checks in at sixth in the women's 1,500m run, with her personal-best of 4:29.96. For the men, James Maglasang ranks sixth in the event with a time of 3:52.64. Fellow distance runner Fabian Feige checks in at tenth in the men's 800m run.

Memphis holds two top 10 spots with three athletes in the women's high jump. Sophomore Laura Toldy ranks fourth in the event clearing the bar at 1.73m. Kirsten Berding (1.65m) and Vivian Haynes (1.65) are tied for seventh.

In the women's shot put, Britta Jaarats (14.39m), Allison Hotz (14.34m) and Anna-Maria Bischof rank fourth through sixth, while Cyarra Wells (13.86m) ranks eighth. For the men, Tom Willcox (16.26m) and Andrew Miller (15.74m) rank ninth and 10th respectively.

In the Javelin throw a combined five Tigers hold top ten positions in C-USA. Senior Casey Carl leads the men at 61.71m which ranks third. Kyle Bynum (61.64) and Thomas Poole (53.96) rank fourth and eighth respectively. Bischof (43.15m) leads the women at fifth on the list, while freshman Xenia Rahn (40.66) takes seventh. Bischof (45.04m) also ranks tenth in the women's discus.

Last Time Out
Last weekend at the Joey Haines Invitational hosted by Southeast Missouri State, Memphis track and field squads won a combined 13 individual titles. The Tigers saw strong performances in both track and field events.

Senior Robert Jackson took first in the men's 110m hurdles crossing the line at 14.37. In women's 100m hurdles Quaniqua Jones finished in first with a time of 14.54.

The Tigers took first and third in the women's 400m dash with Keyona Neal (55.31) taking the top spot followed by teammate Maya Williamson (57.44). Kala Funderburk took second in the women's 200m dash and set a new personal-best with a time of 24.29.

In the women's 800m run, Monica Mason (2:17.80), Nandia Taylor (2:18.25) and Jasmine Darden (2:18.29) placed first through third for the Tigers. On the men's side, Julien Wolf (1:54.47) and James Maglasang (1:54.50) took second and third. Wolf's time was a new personal-best for the freshman.

Louisa Lingley (4:34.45) and Jasmine Darden (4:40.94) finished first and third in the women's 1,500m run. Fellow distance runner Dan Kuhman took first in the 5,000m run crossing the line at 15:14.96.

In the shot put Britta Jaarats (14.39m), Allison Hotz (14.34m) and Anna-Maria Bischof (14.26m) finished first, second and third for the women. . Andrew Miller (15.74m) placed the highest for the men in seventh.

The Tiger men swept the top four spots in the javelin with Casey Carl (61.71m) taking first followed by Kyle Bynum (61.03m), Thomas Poole (52.46m) and Austin Crenshaw (50.43m). Bischof took first in the women's javelin with a throw of 42.40m as teammate Xenia Rahn finished second at 40.66m. Bischof also took second in the discus with a mark of 45.04m.

In the long jump, Jaleen White (6.80m) and D'Ernest Rucker (6.74m) took third and fourth for the men. Rucker's mark was a new personal-best for the sophomore. For the women, Xenia Rahn (5.45m) and Laura Toldy (5.39m) placed second and fourth respectively.

Memphis picked up a trio of top finishes in the pole vault as Karlis Pujats (5.08m) and Austin Crenshaw (4.98m) took first and second for the men, while Sabrina Hochreuther (3.65m) took first for the women.

Sophomore Darius Lynwood picked up another first place finish in the men's high jump clearing the bar at 2.13m. Pulling double-duty, Lynwood placed third in the triple jump and set a new personal-best with a leap of 14.10m.
