Tigers Ready to Perform At Memphis Tiger Invitational

Memphis, Tenn. - The University of Memphis track and field program will host the Memphis Tiger Invitational this weekend at the Billy J. Murphy Track and Field Complex located on the Park Ave. Campus of the University of Memphis. "As a team we're ready to perform well," said head coach Kevin Robinson. "I think we're ready to put up some pretty good numbers. Hopefully the weather will be there and allow us to compete well. I expect some good things to happen." The meet begins Friday with the men's hammer throw at 3 p.m. followed by the women's hammer throw. Remaining events will take place on Saturday, beginning with the women's javelin, men's long jump and women's shot put at 9 a.m. Running events are slated to begin at noon with the women's 4x100m relay. Teams listed to compete in the event include the University of Memphis (M&W), Arkansas Baptist College (M), Arkansas State University (M&W), Arkansas Tech University (W), Bethel College (M&W), Bevill State Community College (W), University of Central Arkansas (M&W), Christian Brothers University (M&W), Harding University (M&W), Murray State University (W), Rhodes College (M&W), Rust College (M&W), Southeast Missouri State (M&W) and Southern Arkansas (M). Memphis has two remaining events prior to the C-USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Orlando, Fla. which begins May 13. The University of Memphis track and field program will host the first annual Memphis Tiger Invitational High School Meet next weekend.
