Tigers look for top marks at Ole Miss Relays
April 16, 2004 OXFORD, Miss. - The University of Memphis Men's Track Team will compete in the Mississippi Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, April 17-18 at Ole Miss Track and Field Complex. The Tigers currently stand with five NCAA Regional Qualifiers and are looking to add to the list this weekend. The top candidates to earn regional marks are Gaute Myklebust in the shot put, Adam Martin in the hammer throw, and Janon Busby in the triple jump. Michael Mentz and Szilard Toth will look to improve their times in the 1500m and perhaps position themselves for the regional. They rank as two of the top 1500m runners in C-USA. NCAA Regional Qualifier Ivan Williams will compete in the 100m and 200m. Throwers Gaute Myklebust, Adam Martin, Stein Syverson, Darius Frye and Norbert Gulyas all look to place in the throwing events this weekend. The Lady Tigers will also send athletes with the men to the Ole Miss Relays. Victoria Crawford and Cassandra Harding will compete in the triple jump. Crawford ranks third in the triple jump in C-USA and is edging closer to a regional qualifying mark.
The meet will begin with the women's hammer throw and men's javelin slated for 10 a.m., Saturday. The men's 4x400-meter relay will commence the first day of action at 4:30 p.m.
