Memphis, Tenn.- Senior thrower Steffen Nerdal earned Conference USA Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week honors for his performance at the Kansas Relays and Memphis Tiger Invitational last weekend as announced by the league office Tuesday.

Nerdal captured a pair of titles last week with the first coming at the prestigious Kansas Relays on Thursday. The Norwegian launched the hammer for a school record 69.87m (229-01) to claim the title by more than eight meters.

At the Memphis Tiger Invitational the following day, Nerdal improved his school record once again with a throw of 70.00m (229-08), beating the field by nearly 10 meters. With the individual honors at the home meet, Nerdal has claimed first place in all four of the meets he has competed in this season.

The three-time All-American and seven-time C-USA Champion is now a three-time C-USA Outdoor Athlete of the Week with the awards coming on May 20, 2007 and April 8, 2008.

Nerdal and the Tiger track and field teams return to action next weekend. The Tigers will travel to Oxford, Miss. for the Ole Miss Classic next Saturday, May 1.
