EUGENE, Ore. – For the first time since 1984, the University of Memphis men’s track and field program will send three student-athletes to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The 2010 Championships will be held June 9-12 at Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon.

Senior thrower Steffen Nerdal will be making his third appearance at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Nerdal is slated to throw at 4 p.m. (PT) on Friday in the hammer throw competition. The Norwegian is looking to finish his illustrious U of M career with a fourth All-American honor.

Making his first appearance at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, junior Richard Lowe will compete in the 400m hurdles on Wednesday at approximately 6:45 p.m. (PT). The Kansas City, Mo., native set a new school record of 50.79 seconds at the NCAA East Regional to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

Sophomore Robert Jackson will also make his first appearance at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Jackson will toe the starting blocks for the 110m hurdles at approximately 5:35 p.m. (PT) on Thursday. The Snellville, Ga., native enters competition with his gold medal Conference USA Outdoor Championship performance time of 13.71 seconds.
