MEMPHIS, Tenn.- University of Memphis triple jumper Manuel Zieglerwas named Conference USA Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year the league announced on Thursday. Ziegler took silver at the 2013 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships earning All-America first team honors.

This marks the fifth time in the last 10 outdoor track and field seasons that the Tigers have had a C-USA Outdoor Athlete of the Year honoree. Past winners include Gaute Myklebust (2003, 2004), Richard Lowe (2011), Steffen Nerdal (2010) and Susan King(2008).

This latest accolade comes on the heels of one of the strongest outdoor seasons under head track and field coach Kevin Robinson'swatch. This year the Tigers sent a combined program-record 19 athletes to the NCAA postseason.

Seven of those athletes advanced to the 2013 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, with five Tigers earning a combined six All-America distinctions tying the program-record set in 1973. Memphis also set a women's program-record with five All-America awards.
