Track and Field Adds Another to Staff
July 21, 2008
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University of Memphis track and field program has added former U of M track athlete Amaechi Oselukwue to its staff. Oselukwue competed for the Tiger track team from 2004-08. "We are lucky to have Amaechi join our staff. As a former athlete he brings character and athleticism to our coaching staff and we are fortunate to have him," said sprint coach Nic Fortenberry. Oselukwue, is a two-time Conference USA 110 hurdle champion. He successfully defended his title in 2008 and qualified for the NCAA MidEast Regionals for the second-straight year. In his senior campaign, Oselukwue broke his 110 hurdle time by .20 seconds and earned All-C-USA honors for the second time in his career. He will assist Fortenberry in coaching the sprinters, with much emphasis on the hurdles. "As a two-time defending conference champion, he brings with him the experience that we feel is needed to upgrade our staff," said Fortenberry.
