Memphis, Tenn - University of Memphis cross country athlete Edwin Kipkorir was named the Conference USA Cross Country Athlete of the Week as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.

Kipkorir a sophomore and a newcomer to the Memphis cross country program received his first Athlete of the Week honor after setting a personal-best record of 25:54.55 in the 8K at the Arkansas-Little Rock Invitational, Saturday.

The Kenyan native was the first Tiger runner to cross the finish line and placed sixth in the event.

The Memphis cross country teams will be back in action on Oct. 17 for the Watson Ford Invitational in Clinton, Miss. hosted by Mississippi College.
