Orlando, Fla. - The Memphis men's cross country team had a tough showing at the Conference USA Cross Country Championships Saturday in Orlando, as the squad finished eighth in the meet, which was hosted by the University of Central Florida at DISNEY'S WIDE WORLD OF SPORTS® Complex.

Freshman Juan Arboleda led the U of M with a 47th-place overall finish. The Franklin, Tenn. native covered the 8K course in a time of 28:41.

Sophomore Abraham Shaposhnik finished second on the team and 49th overall with a time of 28:53, while Sam James was 51st in 31:53, Jeff Brant was 52nd in 32:08 and Daniel Abebe was 53rd in 34:42.

UTEP won the team competition with just 23 points, while Rice was second with a 54 point tally.

The C-USA Championships will mark the end of the cross country season for the Tigers as they will now begin preparations for the indoor track and field season, which is slated to begin Saturday, December 10, with the ASU Kickoff Klassic in Jonesboro, Ark.
