TAMPA, Fla.-The University of Memphis Men's and Women's Cross Country teams placed seventh and 14th at the Ninth Annual Conference USA Cross Country Championships respectively this weekend at the USF Golf Course.

Marquette swept the Men's and Women's team titles winning the Men's C-USA Championship with 43 points, while Cincinnati placed second with 88 points and Louisville third with 102 points. Memphis finished with 199 points. The Marquette women claimed their third straight C-USA Championship with 43 points and were followed by TCU (55) and USF (118). The Memphis women totaled 304 points.

For the Lady Tigers, it was a valuable experience as the squad with seven freshmen and two sophomores looks toward a brighter future. The Tigers top three runners faired well at the meet. Injuries to one runner and the absence of another top runner who left the team this fall hindered the Tigers ability to finish in the top three which was a goal the Tigers felt like they could achieve heading into the season.

Adam Didyk finished in 11th place with a time of 25:28.70. Didyk was named Third Team All C-USA for his efforts. It marked the third time in five meets that Didyk was the Tigers top runner. It was the final competition for Seniors Adam Didyk and Kym Morgan. Teammates Kym Morgan and Mate Nemeth finished 27th (26:12.80) and 31st (26:24.50) respectively. Istvan Kerekjarto placed 51st (27:07.10) and true freshmen Szabi Karadi finished 79th (31:50.40) in the 8K race.

The Lady Tigers top runner was true freshmen Mary Claire Dake who ran a 23:30.00 in the 6K race. Senior Ali Baker, competing in her last athletic competition as a Memphis Tiger placed 61st with a time of 24:05.80. True Freshmen Kara Cassel checked in at 73rd with a time of 24:28.90, while teammate Michel Wilson finished just three spots behind her in 76th place with a time of 24:34.40. Other runners were Nora Nemere (85th, 25:07.60), Becca McMahon (87th, 25:15.10), and Daniele Riendeau (90th, 25:31.70).
