Ryan Ivey is entering his second season as the Director of Basketball Operations heading into the 2006-07 season.
Ivey, a 2004 University of Memphis graduate, is a name familiar to many in Memphis, as he was a member of the Tiger football team and was both an intern, then Stadium Operations Assistant with the Memphis Redbirds.
"Ryan is a hard worker who understands the importance of getting things done. He's been around athletics, both as a student-athlete and as an operations manager," Savage said. "He did a lot on the operations side with the Redbirds, and he's young and just has a great work ethic. And it's always exciting to have a former Tiger student-athlete on staff."
Ivey graduated from Memphis in December of 2004, after winning three letters as a member of the Tiger football team after starting his football career as a walk-on kicker.
Following his graduation with a degree in Sport and Leisure Studies, he then spent the next six months working with the Memphis Redbirds as a Stadium Operations Assistant, drawing up budgets and assisting with the management and the execution of all stadium operations. He had previously interned for the Redbirds in Group Sales. He also completed a mentorship with the Memphis Grizzlies in Group Sales in 2004.
"He is really interested in the operations side of athletics, and that is a big plus for our program and for a position which helps keep our team and our staff organized," Savage said. With the Lady Tigers, Ivey will coordinate the team's travel. He will also oversee a team of student-managers and staff Lady Tiger practices and games.
A member of the Conference USA Academic Honor Roll and a recipient of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame Scholar-Athlete Awards, Ivey is a native of Mayfield, Ky. He is currently enrolled in the Master's program in Sport and Leisure Commerce. Also a member of the Memphis Dean's List while at Memphis, Ivey is married to the former Kelley Holt of Fayetteville, Tenn.
