Memphis, Tenn. - Jennifer Sullivan scored a career-high 23 points to lead five Lady Tigers in double figures as Memphis routed UAB 93-64 Friday in Conference USA women's basketball action at the Elma Roane Fieldhouse. Memphis improved to 12-6 overall and 2-3 in C-USA play while the Blazers fell to 7-11 and 1-4 in league action.
Reserve guard Victoria Crawford added 20 points to give the Lady Tigers a pair of 20-point scorers for just the second time this season. Forward Latrice Booked added 13 points and a team-high seven rebounds.
Memphis trailed 17-15 at the 12:31 mark, but a layup by Sullivan tied the game and sparked a 9-0 run that gave the Lady Tigers the lead for good. Pressure defense by the home team forced the Blazers into 15 first-half turnovers which helped give Memphis a 48-31 lead at the break. Memphis committed just one turnover in the opening 20 minutes.
The Blazers tried to mount a rally in the second, but even Crystal McFadden's career-high 28 points could not pose a serious threat as the visitors could only trim their deficit to 14 points after the break.
Sullivan went 7-for-9 from the field and converted all nine of her free throw attempts as the Lady Tigers shot 52.3 percent from the field while holding UAB to 40.3 percent. McFadden led the Blazers with a 13-for-19 effort from the field.
