Lady Tigers Drop Close One to Marquette

MILWAUKEE - The University of Memphis women's basketball team snapped a six-game winning streak with a 60-57 loss to Marquette here Friday evening. The loss drops the Lady Tigers to 17-7 overall; 7-4 in Conference USA, while Marquette improves to 17-6 overall; 7-3 in league play.
The Lady Tigers made a push late in the second half, going on a 10-0 run from the 9:35 mark to the 3:29 mark, but it was not enough to seal the victory. Marquette led by as many as 20 in the second half, and the closest Memphis would get was three points as Marquette led, 58-55, with just 52 seconds left on the clock.
The Lady Tigers held Marquette to 28 percent shooting from the field in the second half, after Marquette managed a 57.7 mark in the first half. Memphis shot 43 percent from the field for the game, and Marquette dominated the boards, outrebounding Memphis, 39-25.
Victoria Crawford led Memphis in scoring with 17 points. She was 4-of-8 from the field, and hit nine of 12 attempts from the free-throw line. She also hauled in four rebounds and dished out three assists. Raven Rogers also scored in double digits with 14 points off a 7-of-13 effort from the field. She also led Memphis in rebounding with nine boards.
Christina Quaye led Marquette in scoring with 15 points, while Danielle Kamm chipped in 13 points. Crystal Weaver dominated the boards with a game-high 16 rebounds, 11 of which were defensive.
The Lady Tigers will travel to Chicago and will face DePaul on Sunday at 2 p.m. DePaul defeated Saint Louis, 73-65, Friday evening.
