Final Stats

ORLANDO, Fla. - Despite 22 second half points from Devin Necaise, the Lady Tiger basketball team fell 77-62 at UCF, Sunday.

Memphis led 6-2 at the first media timeout of the game after Megan Gooch got the Lady Tiger offense rolling with four straight points, including a reverse lay-up under the bucket. Fast break points from Gresh Gorman and Ashley Howard gave Memphis a 6-0 lead, but UCF first started driving the paint, getting its first bucket of the game from Shayla Smith. That layup sparked a 8-2 UCF run that knotted the game at eight with 11:08 to play in the first. Five straight UCF points in the paint and three straight Lady Tiger turnovers helped UCF stretch out to a 13-10 lead. Both teams then got hot from the field, as they combined to score 24 points in the final six minutes of the half, with a Weber jumper from just inside the three-point line at the buzzer sending UCF into the locker room up 31-26.

UCF opened the second half with a quick 6-0 run, handing Megan Gooch her third foul and sending her to the bench. The UCF lead was 38-26 when Savage called her first timeout of the second half. Necaise responded to the timeout, scoring nine straight points to pull back to 42-35. But UCF again pulled it back to a 10-point lead at 47-37 as UCF knocked down two threes. Necaise tried to keep it close, scoring six of Memphis' first seven field goals in the second half, but the deficit would never reach single single digits as the Lady Tigers were out-rebounded 33-26 in the second half and would give up 36 points in the paint for the game.

Necaise finished with 28 points, while Ashley Howard added 11. Weber led UCF with 24 points, while LaShay Kiing added 15.

Memphis will wrap up its regular season with a pair of home games, beginning with a Friday game against Houston and wrapping with senior day festivities on Sunday, when the Lady Tigers host Rice. The Friday game will tip at 7 p.m. and the Sunday game will tip at 2 p.m.
