Melissa McFerrin Appearing on FOX13's Good Morning Memphis Monday
Jan. 2, 2011
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - - University of Memphis women's basketball head coach Melissa McFerrin will appear on FOX13's Good Morning Memphis at 8:45 a.m. Monday. McFerrin has her Tiger basketball team off to an 11-3 start through the non-conference portion of the schedule. Memphis goes back to 0-0 following the completion of non-conference play and will open its Conference USA season on Thursday against Marshall at FedExForum at 7 p.m.
That game against Marshall will be a Pouncer's Pals game, where all Pouncer's Pals can bring their favorite adult with them and both will get in for free. Tiger season ticket holders are also able to bring a friend to Thursday night's game. All season ticket holders can bring one friend with them to the game, and that friend will receive free admission.
This will be just the second time since Marshall joined Conference USA that the Tigers will open with the Thundering Herd. The last time was in 2005-06, and Marshall won that game, 65-52. The Thundering Herd is led by senior post Tynikki Crook, who ranks second in Conference USA in scoring and third in rebounding. The senior was a pre-season all-Conference selection and will be a significant challenge for the Tigers in the paint.
Marshall is trying to put a rough non-conference season behind them. The Thundering Herd is 4-8 overall, but played a tough non-conference schedule, including a loss two games ago where two players got stuck on the East Coast due to the snow after flying home for holiday break and were not able to return to campus for the Dec. 28th game, leaving Marshall with just seven players. The Thundering Herd has already played tough road games at Miami and Cincinnati and opened the season with a loss to Appalachian State, the team that beat Memphis in the finals of the WBI last season.
Seating for Thursday night's game is all in the lower level of FedExForum and all seats are general admission seating. Fans arriving earlier will have first choice in picking their seats for the C-USA opener.
Group tickets are also available if purchased in advance from the University of Memphis Ticket Office at 901-678-2331 before the day of the game. Groups of 10 or more will receive $2.00 tickets for their entire group, so spend a Thursday night downtown with the Tigers, the first of three Thursdays the Tigers have a conference home game this month.
