OVERLAND PARK, Ks. - - Senior guard Brittany Carter was named one of ten finalists for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award, Wednesday. The finalists were chosen by a media committee from the list of candidates announced in November.

Carter has helped Memphis to a 14-4 overall record and a 4-1 mark in Conference USA play. The senior is coming off a 22-point effort in a win at UAB Sunday night and is Memphis' leading scorer with 16.2 ppg. She is also tied for the team lead with 42 steals on the season.

The Covington, Ga., native is working on a second bachelor's degree, after receiving her first degree in May of last year in criminal justice. A member of the Tiger 3.0 Club following the fall semester, Carter is a two-time C-USA player of the week already this season. She currently ranks third in the league in scoring (16.2), 10th in assists (2.9) and 10th in steals (2.3). She has moved in to the career top 15 in scoring, and is just 20 points shy of ranking 14th all-time in Memphis history in scoring with 1,346 points in her third season as a Tiger.

The Lowe's Senior CLASS Award honors senior student-athletes for their accomplishments in four areas: community, classroom, character and competition. The award is designed exclusively for college seniors who are utilizing their complete athletic eligibility.

A component of the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award is a fan vote. Fans can vote for Carter once per day from now through March 18th here.

The Tigers return home for a C-USA Clash on Thursday against Marshall. Memphis is half a game ahead in second place in the latest C-USA standings, while Marshall is currently tied for fifth. The C-USA clash on Thursday will tip at 7 p.m. That game will also be Tiger Dining Night, where the first 300 University of Memphis students will receive a free t-shirt.
