Marketing Admissions for UTEP Game:
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Night, anyone who wears pink will receive free admission to Monday night's game. Members of the Boys and Girls Club will also receive free admission for UTEP's first-ever appearance in the Elma Roane Fieldhouse. It will be Memphis' lone home game for two weeks as the Lady Tigers embark on a four-game C-USA road trip beginning this weekend.
Against UTEP
This is the first-ever meeting between the Lady Tigers and the Miners. Memphis will face UTEP just once during the regular season since UTEP is in the West Division. Memphis will make its first-ever trip to El Paso next year.
UTEP has gone 2-4 in its last six games and the Monday night game against the Lady Tigers will wrap up a four-game C-USA road trip for the Miners. UTEP is 1-4 in league play on the road, but one of their road wins was their game at Tulane on Saturday, where they won 59-58.
Butler Moves to Seventh in Career Assists
Senior point guard Tamika Butler has now passed Tiffany Collins (1997-2001) in the career assists category and with her 340 career assists is 11 assists shy of catching Connie Hibbler (1984-88) for sixth place overall at 351.
Only Four Lady Tigers Score a Field Goal at UAB
While UAB was shooting the lights out in Memphis' last game in Birmingham, the Lady Tigers had just four of the eight players who played score a field goal.
Junior guard Devin Necaise led all scorers with a career-high 29 points, while Ashley Howard hit double-digits for the second time in the last three games with 11 points. Gresh Gorman also hit double digits for the second time in three games, scoring 11 points, including 7-for-9 from the free-throw line.
Freshman Paris Leonard was held without a field goal in the UAB game, the first time in her young Lady Tiger career that she hasn't hit a bucket. Leonard has hit a bit of a wall with three weeks remaining in the regular season, going 10-for-41 in the last three games and going three straight games without a three-point field goal.
Success From Beyond the Arc
Devin Necaise now leads the team with 35 three-point field goals made, which is the 10th-best single season total in the Memphis record book. Freshman Paris Leonard has 34 treys and senior Tamika Butler has 27 on the season. That trio has sunk 96 of Memphis' 98 threes on the season.
Memphis Ties School-Record Losing Streak
It's something the team has fought against for a majority of the C-USA schedule, but the 2005-06 version of the Lady Tigers has tied the longest losing streak in school history. The last time a Memphis team lost 12 straight games was in 1989-90. That team went on to win four of its next five games.
Bradley's Block Party Now
Just one time in the previous six seasons have the Lady Tigers have someone post 30 blocks for a season. Senior Jamie Bradley now has 26 blocks and has had a block in each of last nine games. The last time a Memphis player had a block in more than five straight games was Melissa Abraham in 2001-02. Unfortunatley, Bradley has also battled foul trouble in each of the past six games, fouling out twice, and picking up four fouls twice.
