Dickson and Hearn Sweep C-USA Weekly Honors
Feb. 25, 2013
Dickson earned her fourth C-USA Player of the Week award after averaging 24.5 points and 10.5 rebounds in a pair of Tiger wins last week. She shot 43.9 percent from the field and 46.7 percent from three-point range and 75.0 percent from the free throw line. She also added 3.0 assists, 2.5 steals and 2.0 blocks a game in the wins. In the win at Southern Miss, she finished with 22 points and a season-best 16 rebounds, including 10 defensive boards. On Sunday, playing in her final career game at FedExForum, Dickson led the Tigers in scoring (27), assists (5) and blocks (2) in the win over UTEP. She scored 20 of her 27 points in the first half. This was the fourth time this season that Dickson has posted back-to-back 20-plus point outings and the 27 point game on Sunday was her 13th 20-plus point performance this season.
Hearn was named the C-USA Freshman of the Week for the third time this year. She averaged 16.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.0 steal in the two wins for the Tigers. In the overtime road win at Southern Miss, she helped the Tigers comeback from a 29-26 halftime deficit by scoring 10 of the team's final 12 points in regulation. She scored 20 of her eventual 22 points in the second half and overtime session, helping Memphis sweep the series from Southern Miss. On Sunday against UTEP, Hearn knocked down a pair of three point field goals in the first half that helped the Tigers convert a season-high 10 three-point field goal attempts. She also had six assists in the two wins and is just three shy of becoming just the second Memphis freshman in school history to have 100 or more assists in her freshman campaign. Ruth Ann Forsythe had 101 assists in 1983-84, and Hearn will head into the final three regular season games with 97 assists on the season.
Memphis is on the road for their final two away games of the regular season this week. The Tigers play at Tulsa, a team just one game behind the Tigers in the standings, on Thursday night. Then Memphis plays second place East Carolina on the road, Sunday, in Greenville. Both games will be carried on 91.7 FM in Memphis on WUMR.
