Memphis, TN - - University of Memphis Lady Tiger basketball coach Blair Savage-Lansden announced Monday that she is resigning her position as head basketball coach effective the end of the current season. Savage is completing her fourth season as the Lady Tigers head coach.

"I want to thank Dr. Shirley Raines, R.C. Johnson, Lynn Parkes, the staff and the administration at the University for the opportunity to serve as the women's basketball coach", Savage said. "The support for the program was always there and I wish the program nothing but the best in the future".

Savage announced her resignation to Athletic Director Johnson during an early morning meeting on Monday. She will accompany her team to Orlando, Florida, later this week for the C-USA Women's Tournament. Memphis is the No. 7 seed for the C-USA Championships, their highest seeding in the tournament since the 2003-04 season.

"I certainly appreciate Blair's efforts on behalf of our women's basketball team over the years," Johnson stated. "She and her staff have dedicated many hours in structuring a program that has been managed in a first-class manner and for that, we offer her our thanks."

Johnson said that a search committee will be put into place immediately to assist him and that a national search will begin at once to find a new coach for the program.
