Brittany Carter Named Lowe's Senior CLASS Second-Team All-American

Senior guard Brittany Carter has been named a Lowe's Senior CLASS Second-Team All-America honoree it was announced Saturday. The senior recently completed her college eligibility as the University of Memphis' 13th all-time leading scorer in just three seasons in the Blue and Gray, finishing with 1,437 points over 93 career games. The three-time all-conference honoree also leaves holding the University of Memphis single game scoring record (either men's or women's) with a 49-point outing in a win at the University of Washington tournament in her sophomore campaign.
Carter already has one college degree in hand after graduating with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies - Criminal Justice in December of 2010. She returned to school and helped Memphis to back-to-back C-USA semifinals appearances and in her three years at Memphis, the Tigers posted three straight seasons with 20 or more victories. She is the first Tiger since Tamika Whitmore to earn three all-conference honors and while scoring double-digits in 71 games. Carter scored 20 or more points in 25 games and 30 or more points in four games.
The Covington, Ga., native battled an ankle injury in the latter half of both her junior and senior seasons, but stuck it out to post 422 career rebounds (4.5/game), 163 steals, 44 blocks and 181 assists in three seasons.
