Lady Tigers Gear Up for First Practice

MEMPHIS, TENN. - The Lady Tiger Basketball team will open the 2000-01 season with its first official practice on Saturday, Oct. 14, at The Elma Roane Fieldhouse on The U of M campus. Practice will run from 8:30 a.m. until 12 p.m. and will be a part of the Coaching Clinic that the Memphis staff is hosting.
Coach Joye Lee-McNelis will use her first official practice as part of the on-court instruction and demonstration for her clinic. The clinic runs from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. and will feature special guest Greg Williams who is the head coach of the WNBA's Detroit Shock. Williams, who had served as an assistant coach for the past two seasons with the Shock, was promoted to head coach in September. He has 27 years of coaching experience and has served on the collegiate level as head coach of Colorado State (1990-97) and Houston (1985-90).
The cost of the clinic is $30 per individual and $60 for three coaches who sign up together as part of the Tiger Package. The clinic fee includes a t-shirt and a notepad. Media is welcome to attend and interviews will be granted at 12:30 p.m. Coaches who are interested in the clinic should check in at 7:30 a.m. in The Fieldhouse. The Lady Tigers will also play a part in this year's Memphis Madness festivities at The Pyramid on Sunday from 5-8 p.m. The Lady Tigers will sign autographs from approximately 5:30-6 p.m., and will be introduced individually at 6:30 p.m.
