MEMPHIS, Tenn. - -
Fans wanting to get their fill of college basketball on the first official day of the season can buy one ticket for just $12 and get both the University of Memphis men's and women's basketball games in the same day -- $12 for the 13th.
The women's team will open the night's festivities against Big 10 foe Indiana, a team that was 21-11 last season and which advanced to the WNIT quarterfinals. The Hoosiers return eight letterwinners and two starters from last season's team, including senior guard Jamie Braun, a 1,000 career point scorer who was named to the All-Big Ten second team last season.
The women's game will tip at 5 p.m. in FedExForum and will be followed by an 8 p.m. men's tip against Jackson State.
Jackson State, out of Jackson, Miss., was 18-15 last season and finished second in the SWAC with a 15-3 record. Senior forward Grant Maxey was an All-SWAC first team honoree and averaged 16.4 points last season.
Fans who already have a women's basketball season ticket, will already receive a ticket to the men's game for Friday night. Fans who have men's season tickets will also receive admission to the women's game with their ticket. Fans who do not yet have a season ticket for either squad can purchase the two-games-for-the-price-of-one ticket here or by calling 901-678-2331.
