The University of Memphis women's basketball team is coming off a season-opening win over East Tennessee State. For the first time in school history, the Tigers went to overtime in their season-opener, defeating East Tennessee State, 77-74, to avenge a 10-point loss to the Bucs last year. Senior forward Pa'Sonna Hope posted her second career double-double in the win, while Mooriah Rowser scored 15 points in her return after a season-ending knee injury in game three of the Tigers' slate last year. Asianna Fuqua-Bey was knocking on the door of her second career double-double, finishing with 11 points and eight rebounds in 34 minutes.
