MEMPHIS - - Senior guard Jamila Ajanaku has been cleared by the NCAA to play women's basketball this season for the University of Memphis after transferring from Middle Tennessee it was announced by head coach Melissa McFerrin, Tuesday.

Ajanaku played in 38 games at Middle Tennessee with two starts over three seasons. She helped the Blue Raiders to three NCAA tournaments and comes from Central High School in Memphis, where she played under former Tiger Niki Bray. Coming out of Central, she was the No. 20 ranked wing in the country by ESPN.com.

She returns to her home town in order to be close to family dealing with a medical issue. Ajanaku will join the Tigers in time for their non-conference game at Texas-Arlington on Wednesday night.
