@MemphisWGolf In Second Place at USA Women's Invitational

MOBILE, Ala. – The University of Memphis women’s golf team is tied for second after day one at the USA Women’s Invitational in Mobile, Ala.
The Lady Tigers shot a team score of 300 in round one, and followed with a 304 in Monday afternoon’s second round. The team score of 604 puts Memphis just one shot behind team leader Jacksonville State (303-300 – 603) heading into Tuesday’s final round.
Freshman Leighann Cabush is tied for first on the individual leaderboard through two rounds. The Waukesha, Wis. native carded matching rounds of 73 on Monday. The 18-hole score of 73 matches a career best for Cabush.
In round one, Cabush shot a 35 on the back nine and posted an eagle on hole twelve. The freshman finished with three birdies, two coming in round two, on the day. Cabush is currently tied for the lead with Troy’s Fatima Fern Cano at +2 going into play on Tuesday.
Shelby Sain is just off the lead after day one, sitting in fifth place at +4 after two rounds. Sain posted a 74 in both rounds, and carded four birdies and an eagle (hole 15 in round two) during Monday’s play.
Ashley Kees is tied for 18th after shooting a 153 (76-77) on day one. Kees finished strong in both of Monday’s rounds, finishing with six straight pars to close out round one, and posting four pars and a birdie to wrap up her second round.
On the team side of the event, Samford sits three shots out of the lead and two strokes behind Memphis after finishing with a 606. Troy (298-309 – 607) and South Alabama (310-300 – 610) round out the top five heading into round three on Tuesday.
Final round play from the Azalea City Golf Course begins with a shotgun start at 8:15 a.m. CT on Tuesday morning.
