Memphis Earns Share of Fourth after One Round at Sir Pizza Cards Challenge

Round One Results in PDF Format Round Two Tee Times in PDF Format MIAMI, Fla. —Marissa Steen posted a two-under-par 70 to lead the University of Memphis women’s golf team into a share of fourth position after one round at the Sir Pizza Cards Challenge. “Marissa played very well amidst the windy conditions,” Lady Tiger head coach Beth Harrelson said. “She finished with five birdies and three bogeys and really battled.” Memphis posted a 307 (+17) in the first round at Weston Hills Country Club while dealing with high winds and unfavorable scoring conditions. The Lady Tigers are in a tie for fourth position with Texas State heading into Monday’s second round. Memphis trails first-round leader Miami (303) by just two strokes, while North Carolina State (305) and FIU (305) are tied for second. “I’m very pleased with our position,” Harrelson said. “Our scores should be lower tomorrow because of familiarity with the course.” Steen is in a four-way tie for the individual lead after her two-under-par opening round. Shleby Coyle, (FIU), Courtney Manning (Arkansas State), and Shena Yang (USF) all posted 70’s in the first round. Julia Hodgson is in a tie for 23rd after an opening round 77. Kathleen Glavin and Alex Aläng are in a tie for 45th after posting 80's in the first round, and Ashley Kees is in a tie for 53rd after turning in an 81. The Lady Tigers continue competition at the Sir Pizza Cards Challenge tomorrow, Feb. 28. Memphis is paired with Texas State and Arkansas State in the shotgun start slated for 8:30 a.m.
